Title: Can someone recommend me a ss exhaust system.
Post by: murraymint on 16 July 2012, 17:22: Hiya. As above can someone recommend me a good stainless exhaust system for a 16v. Buying a 16v doner on Wednesday and will be doing a 16v conversion on my 1.6 and thort it would be a good time to fit a new exhaust. Have around £200-£300 to spend.

And before anyone says, I did search :wink:

i had Magnex before this and that was good, didn't want to get rid of it TBH but the Jetex that replaced it is dare i say, better

Would you recommend one with mid box or without?

Want to to sound nice but not chav loud. Also would a middle box restrict performance?

Sorry for all the questions, other then fitting stock exhausts I no nothing about them lol

Post by: thai-wronghorse on 16 July 2012, 18:27: Personally I'd opt for the resonated one with a centre box, it'll still sound decent without been stupidly loud. Performance wise it'll make sod all difference really.

thats what i run, noise is virtually Nil, i get a nice grunt but you can only hear the engine/ Turbo experience on mine

I ran my Magnex with no mid box and it sounded chav

listen - this is no Mid box on a 8 Valve lump that used to be in my car

Agreed. Resonated is very quiet, almost no louder than standard, just a bit deeper.

I have a resonated system and its very quite. Was thinking about getting centre box swapped out for non res pipe to add a bit of sound.

Jetex all the way. Make sure its fitted "properly" otherwise it'll probably knock. Then people start blaming quality.
