Title: Freeview on your iPad/iPhone/Android device
Post by: DubFan on 16 July 2012, 13:21
Just seen that Humax (makers of fine Freeview and Freesat boxes) have brought out two Freeview products for mobile devices.

One is a pocket sized Freeview box that connects to your iPad/iPhone/Android phone wirelessly allowing you to watch freeview on your mobile device.

The other is a Freeview dongle to plug into your iPad:

You can use app called tvcatchup on iphone/ipad to watch freeview

But both of those require you to have an internet connection.
And it's using up your bandwidth to stream video to your phone.

This device is different, it is a Freeview receiver, which (if you get the little box) picks up the TV signal and relays it to your phone over wifi. Or if you get the iPad dongle, it receives the signal and then displays it direct on the iPad screen.
The big advantage of these products is that it doesn't require an internet connection or use up 3G bandwidh, just the ability to pick up a freeview signal.
