the time has come for me to sell the MK4
I need the cash to save up for a T4 van to go travelling in, due to this AWESOME weather we are having, this however leaves me with a predicament . . .
I will need a cheap runaround until september time for work etc. I was thinking possibly a MK1 1litre or 1.3 as it boasts nice cheap insurance and running costs or possibly a Polo 6n as they are dirt cheap and also cheap to run
Anybody got anymore VW cheap runabouts for me to consider? (MK2?) Open to all(No MK3's) suggestions,
-
Can't believe you want a cheap round around and won't consider a mk3
I've seen plenty of nice clean examples go for less than £500.
I would have a polo 6n after a mk3
Cheap tax, insurance and cheap to run
-
 it's because I really, really hate the look of them. Think a polo is a very big possibility at the minute
-
Mk1 is certainly not a cheap run around given age alone.
Polos are ok but do have their fair share of issues, does it have to be vw? If only for a few months I would broaden the search to other manufacturers
-
ideally I want it to stay VAG, why is it not a cheap run around? I know mpg will be bad because its old etc.

And the mk4's a real looker after all.

Because a mk1 is a 20+ year old car and will always need parts and have issues if you are buying it cheaply. Not a practical idea for a run around.

Not looking to start an argument mate. Simple word called opinion, each to their own

Lupo possibly? Seat Ibiza? Skoda fabia?
Surely if a cheap mk3 came up u would be silly to turn it down? Doesn't really matter what it looks like aslong as it saves u money and after all it's vag :D
I'm driving a mk3 and same as u don't really like them, but it was free and I've saved a lot of money since selling the mk4........but it does have a vr6 engine init  which is a big positive
There are some bargains out there mate, just make sure it runs well and is rust free and u should be on to a winner just ignore the looks

Get an old EJ9 Civic 1.4
Indestructible

There are a few nice looking ones in that thread, they can look alright but I just prefer the look of mk1, mk2 etc.
Just going to keep my eye for any low mileage cheap vag's for the time being

although can't say i'd complain driving this

girls car!!

£1000 could get you a lot of mk3
-
How much u hoping to get for mk4 out of interest. Depends on what u can afford then. As if your trying to save money should only use the budget from the golf sale to buy another golf  then savings/ monthly income to insure/ tax her.
Just my opinion. A much as I hate to say it, getting rid of my mk4 was the best thing I could have done. Getting £2300 with all mods was a decent price and having a spare mk3 lying around didn't have to use a penny to buy another car
-
£1000 could get you a lots of mk3

You'd be suprised now bud for a 16v

Well well well. I have a MK3 (8v) and it is cheap reliable and decent. As a runaround it is great. For the money you can pick them up for it is a good punt.
-
Went for a drive in my MK4 just now though and really don't know if I can say goodbye :undecided:

Your lucky I don't report you to a mod for that kind of comment  I love my car so much and wanted to sell it as a quick way to pay back money that I've borrowed. Would rather be in debt up to my ears than see it go
