The filter is enclosed and so it only sucks air in from the front grill, far better and neater than having a metal heat shield in the engine bay...

Or just keep your airbox with a decent filter and add the R32 DSG parts  :cool:

Someone on here had a champagne  bucket as a heat shield and that seemed to work  :laugh:

yer thats the 1 i saw   :laugh: but... i saw another one with wht looked like a custom made plastic sheet on the engine side of the filter with a rubber o-ring in the middle for the pipe to pass through ... dont fancy payin £150 for an air filter though  :laugh: ive alreay spent this week £250 to have a steering rack fitted  :sick: and just ordered new rear lights crystal clear/red .. bora sport cluster overlay and chrome dial rings and some retro fit aero wipers  :grin: being as im keeping the pile o cack now might aswell do what i said i was gonna do ;p anybody wana vinyl wrap my sh** coloured brown fake wood interior??  :smug:

Lol, the bucket took alot of building! :grin:

Its been cut down and insulated now but still havent used it properly, its nearly finished hopefully a trip to rtech again soon.

Now for the looks cheers Andrew for the start!  :smiley:

R-tech do there own kit for the 1.8T with heat shield if I recall, looks similar to what I've seen on the TFSI engines on the S3 and LCR

Yup I bought a heatsHield from eBay worked perfect covered a large area and hardly any air escapes which means it keeps the filter cool... Il try and find the link it fits basically all mk4,s and s3 cupra etc

it says its for a cupra :-/ reckon it would fit the golfski??

Is that the one that goes behind the front bumper?
I have had one and found the filter too close to the floor for my liking, some people trim an inch or two off the bottom, but you dont get anymore gains from having a cone in the engine bay  :lipsrsealed:

It should do, all you do is bolt the maf to it.

I ran a pipercross filter all ok.

What size filter did you get, this was mine, all I needed to do was drill 2 holes and bolt the maf to it.
