Title: GTI PF engine
Post by: boogeysheftel on 04 October 2003, 08:33
i just bought a '90-91 GTI with a 8v PF engine. I think it has only 107 bhp. Can anyone tell why it's horsepower is so small (i thought it would be 115bhp) and how it goes on the road. Anything i can do to impove the horsepower and performance?

The 8v has 112bhp. Induction kit , sports exhaust, fast road cam, bigger throttle body, chip, all for starters!

Yup, the PF engine is 107 hp. Is this in a MK2?, if so remove the cat to get a few more horses.

i'll do that. By the way, some people say, that removing the cat. convetrter will affect the fuel consumption, it will eat more fuel
is this true?

The cat is a part of the exhaust system, the ECU do'nt know that it is there. There should be no increase in fuel consumption.

That is correct, as long as the oxygen sensor is still connected in the exhaust.
