hi everyone.
i am in the first few driving days with my ed30 and I love it...
my question here is more importantly about the gear box: I am noticing that the change is a bit stiff from 3rd to 2nd...
I was wondering if anyone has experienced a similar thing and if it can be a symptom of something? the gear box is smooth as they come in every single shift, with the exception of 3rd down to 2nd, and sometimes a little bit 1st to 2nd....
the car drives well anyway but this bothers me a bit
thanks a lot

I recently had a Powerflex gearbox mount fitted to mine and it greatly improved the gear changes and makes them much slicker. It sorted out the sloppy 1st to 2nd change.

If its really starting to bother you Id suggest you get one fitted. Pretty cheap as well, I only paid £19 for mine at my local VAG garage.

thanks Alan, but I am just trying to understand if what I am experiencing is normal or not. 1st to 2nd is quite ok, really just sooooo slightly stiffer, but almost unnoticeable, whereas 3rd to 2nd is a bit stiff, and the stick stops for a quick bit rather than going smoothly to 2nd. all the other changes are smooth as butter, including 2nd to 3rd.
As I am still in a sort of grace period with VW Morden I could ask them to check this, although if it's a matter of just changing the gearbox oil, for instance, I can have APS do that.
I wouldn't want that this is an early symptom that the gearbox is going...
thanks

How difficult is the Powerflex kit to fit? Or alternatively what would a garage charge to fit it? Ta

hi all
I would like to have an independent reliable garage have a look at it.
maybe it's just gearbox oil that needs to be changed/added
I would really like to have the shift from 3rd to 2nd smooth as all the others, also because I mainly drive in town.
I was initially thinking of going to APS but it's a bit far...
can anyone recommend a good indy garage in (central/west) london?
for instance I saw the website for Audi Volskwagen Service Centre (http://www.audivwsc.co.uk/)
are they any good?
any other suggestion?
thanks

Its not central or west but in south London. Garage I used called Tuning Werkes in Croydon - http://www.tuningwerkes.com/ - 0208 681 0208
Been using them for years and cant fault. If you do call them ask to speak to Reuben, he ran a MK5 as his personal car for yeas and knows them inside out (mention my name as it will get me some browny points :D).
