if it is ticking all the time be very careful as it could blow up and destroy your engine

Remove it completley mate, Block off inlet, block off turbo intake pipe too.
I pulled the connector off the canistor itself and split the sensor so its still connected but doesnt tick and tidied it away.

The whole point is to clean up engine bay, reduce pipes which im sure are all under vaccum. Ohh and stop the annoying ticking noise.

cheers guys. does it make any difference having a recirculating dump valve or a non recirculating apart from the noise?  also is it worth fitting a front mounted intercooler?

ive just read that i must fit a recirculating valve, is that true? i have a AUM engine i think

Welcome mate, yeah recirc is best if you don't want running issues, front mount is only necessary if goin for bigger power, or you got money to spunk...... Which u must have as you've bought a golf
Title: dump valve
Post by: toby2can on 11 July 2012, 19:16
cheers for all the help guys, now i no theres a lot on this forum about not running a atmospheric dump valve but i am still really confused i have spoke to few different specialist an they all say different things. you can run one because the ecu will alter wat it needs to for it to run with no problems. another person has said something about 2 air flow meters 1 before the turbo an 1 after which means it will run crap but someone i spoke to today said thats rubbish. an all people keep going on about is the forge recirculating valve. the thing is i am running an atmospheric dump valve at the mo have been for nearly a week an have had no problems at all. but im so confused on whether i should keep it or not im finding it very hard to find actual fact on weather it will upset the engine or not, only peoples opinions which will stem from other people opions.   52 plate AUM 1.8 turbo GTI cheers toby
