Title: Tool confirmation please
Post by: scarr89 on 10 July 2012, 22:04
Yo...

Will be changing my drive shaft hopefully next week  :lipsrsealed:

I require the tool that attaches the DS to the box...Now I am under the impression that it is one of these, I think it is an M10 multi spline (other wise known as a triple square, correct?).

If someone could please confirm the exact size then it will save me buying all of them  :undecided:

Cheers

M10 Spline on our cars, non gti's have M8 splines.

Might be better with a 1/2 drive though as some may be a little tight and a long reach too.

Thought you've already changed both yours :lipsrsealed:

Ahh brill, thanks for that. I'll order and let you know how I get on. M10 is the size of the bolt right, and the spline bit...that is just a generic term for something with how many 'teeth'? What I'm after is the correct amount of teeth, I heard it was 12 (triple square  :undecided:).

When I say mine, I mean my brothers.

Another J&R special coming our way, £32 delivered 2year warranted...Winner winner chicken dinner!

Different names same tool, 12 point spline. M10 is the size of the spline bit. Good old J&R

You can get an extra long version from Sealey or use some long extensions instead, the set I use are 3/8ths drive and I've not had any problems with them :afro:
