Title: GOLF MK3 GTI EARTH POINTS

HI Everyone,

Would any of you fellow enthusiasts know where all the earth points are for an 8V GTI?,

Recently it has started giving me starting problems, So i have been advised to check the earth points.

Starting cold problems? Starting when hot problems? Does it have problems starting cold and hot?

Hi

when engine is warm, it sometimes refuses to start, until you leave it for a while

I've changed the coil and ecu temp sensor, the last coil I had kept on doing the same thing, so I changed it and 3 weeks later, the problem is back,

However I took it for a spin today and it didn't give me a problem at all, so I think it's intermittent

any help is appreciated

have you changed the fuel & ecu relays? As i had a simular problem but my car kept cutting out and i think it was the ecu relay. They ment to be warm not hot. Have a search in the mk3 section to see what number relays you need.

Think they only £11 a pop from dealers.

I'll have a look, I have my doubts on the coil, coz the last one I had in was doing the same thing, I put in a new one and it only lasted me 3 weeks before it started giving me staring problems when warm, so I changed it and again 3 weeks later doing the same thing, ohh by the way it a budget make one lol

btw my car does not turn off when being driven or once started

you need to get a decent or oem eq 1. My coil pack went & i replaced it with a bosch 1 (the original 1 was made by bosch) & its been good for 2-3 yrs now.

Sharki786, where did you get the coil from? And how much?,  i seriously need an oem coil, also I started my car and left it running for 25 mins, went out an checkd the number 30 relay, it was very hot compared to the others, so what are your thoughts on that?

Is the number 30 Relay, the ECU one?

tbh honest mate, i dont remember which relay is which. Try doing a search in the mk3 section. I got my coil from central auto supplies (CAS) think it was about 50 ponies. You might be able to buy 1 from eurocarfarts (but they always feck up with me by giving wrong part) also use the discount on their website (discount code is GGTIUK25 i think) also ask them what make it is.
