Title: Seats
Post by: GTi_James on 09 July 2012, 23:02
Hey guys,

After I've sorted out my main three mechanical issues I'm planning on up grading my interior, I've had a few ideas and would like to run it by some of you.

I've got the limited edition recaro leather seats which are heated. Now I've got a few problems on the drivers seat where the foam has worn away and I can feel the skeleton of the seat poking through and...yes you guest it...where there's one problem there's always another, the bit where the foams worn away is now thinning the leather  :undecided:

I obviously need to get the foam redone and if anyone has done this can I know price now possible build thread? Secondly I'm looking to add some flair to the seats so was thinking of replacing the middle strips on all the seats with a grey suede or black suede? Undecided at colour  :undecided:

Finally does anybody know if removing the rear view mirror is illegal? I may not do this but if I get a mk6 GTi then my mk4 will become my project and will be going to town on it!

Any and all thoughts and criticisms welcome!

I had a similar probelm on my MK2 and what I did was bought a passanger seat and changed the foam and cloth onto my drivers seat, very easy to do but a patient job, I will also be doing the same on my MK4 as its wearing thin on the bottom bolster of the recaro, just need to find a good passanger recaro.

Once the foam breaks down not much you can do but replace it, shame it costs so much, I had to bite the bullet and buy one too

In terms of removing your rear view mirror, yes, it is legal. As always theres a condition, you need to have two additional mirrors (door Mirrors) Which im guessing you more than likely have :)
If you think about it, vans and lorries do not have rear view mirrors? and they are fine  and something can not fail the MOT if its not there :)
