Title: Slugs in house
Post by: golf-sib on 09 July 2012, 07:09
Since moving in we have had a very small slug problem. In the morning I initially noticed their trails. A couple of weeks later I started spotting one in the house and got rid. Now we seem to catching a single slug in the property every one or two weeks. I've not seen any eggs anywhere, I've gone as far as lifting the bottom parts off the kitchen cabinets to check. We have wooden flooring as well and the issue is its only happens on the ground floor. The slugs we do find once every 1-2weeks are full grown so I am completely baffled its like a COD spawn spot exists somewhere in my house

Any ideas or advice?

I had the same problem in a house I lived in.

I think they were getting in through an air brick. They can squash themselves flat and get through quite small gaps.

Go round the outside of your house looking for gaps like air bricks, gaps between frames and doors etc, anywhere else they might be able to get in and close the gaps.

Don't block air vents though - you will get damp. Put some fine netting over or (like I did) pile some gravel up.

This sorted it for me. A much nicer place to live when you don't have to do "slug patrol" first thing in the morning...

put some slug pellets down outside the house as this will help keeping them out.

Sure it wasn't the Mk3 that was leaving slug trails in the road?
