last week week and a half ive had to top up the power steering fluid 4 times :-/ id say i have a leak lol plus it sounds like chewbacker on ecstacy when i turn wen it dries up!! most likely places to look for a leak?????? :-/
-
Seals in the rack have more than likely gone  Unfortunately its new rack time
-
f*** that!!! if thats what it is a trip to we buy any car had enough golfs are sh!te fact
-
Prob a new pump too for your sh!t golf ;)
-
Rack costs around £150 for a refurbed one and about 4 hours to fit. Pump is £100 for a refurbed one and an hour to fit
-
golfs goin bag o sh!t goin to get a proper car.
-
or it could be a leakin pipe yet?? lets all calm down a bit with 100s and hundreds
-
But if you're running it with no fluid you would have probably knackered both anyway, regardless of how the fluid is being lost you've admitted it's ran dry and makes whatever noise so not a good pointer.

Ill bet you a £1000 its the rack
-
nah didnt run it dry as soon as i heard the noise i pulled over to have a look noticed the resavoir was quite empty so topped it up still got the bottle in the boot have to fill it up once every 4/5 days :-/
-
rack seals :( i no someone at vw had a look he said he would try a seal kit for me tho to save a bit :-/ not sure what im gona do cuz im sick to the back teeth of the golf!! i can feel an m3 or an s4 comin on :D
-
trouble with a M3 or S4 is that when something goes wrong its going to cost u=you 10x's more.
Avoid a SMG M3 as its 9k for a gearbox when they fail :lipsrsealed:
-
ooooh ive got a worn steerin rack, I'll sove it by spendin sh!te loads a money on a majorly expensive car. What heappens when the m3 rack fails? Are ya gonna get a ferrari?

+1
besides, source the parts yourself and take it to your local garage, theyre always happy for work unlike stealers!
and golfs are amazing, yes i spent 12oo£ on what would of been a major service and started motor but its also the last person who had it that fooked it up, im still paying to get mine sorted but im now at the point where i can replace the parts that will need replacing in the future before they break with better uprated parts
and if your going to question my first service, its because the aircompressor then when, had to pay for breakdown as i didnt have it myself, new tensioners i paid half price coz the garage missed them on the full service  and there were a few other bits that the last idiot did to the car that destroyed a few parts
