Had alot of rain recently, I've avoided deep puddles but with running the toyosports cai and itt being so close to the floor ive still sucked up a bit of water spray
The car ran very rough this morning, losing powrr missing etc. how ever it came up with fault code 16486 maf. So I've taken it off and some carb cleanrr through it.
I did notice small watrr droplets in the TIP.
after I have it a hard run it has cleared up a bit. Will this cure itself or what should I be doing?
?
Its an auq engine code:)

Take your cai off and cut it shorter so it sits up higher.
One of these wrecked someones engine on here before :lipsrsealed:
I think you maybe lucky.

how far is the filter from the ground??? mine sits at 9"

sucking up water spray through a cai on a turbo car and causing engine failure is rubbish, the boost pipes should be warm enough to make it evaporate if it made it past your very hot turbo.
how do you think water injection works.
the only way i can see i causing engine failure is if you submerge the cai fully under and it sucks up litres & litres, it would cause the turbo to fail first then its got get all the way to the inlet, and i dont see how that is possible if there's no boost/suction.
tbh i think the water spray has maybe made it past your filter and contaminated your maf

Iv always thought the turbo would instanly evaporate the water, however someone did say it ruined their engine.
I cant see how sucking ANY water is good for an engine as the MAF wont like it and thats the first thing thatl b hit.
I would just be careful and cut it shorted atleast.

low quality steam damages both turbine and compresser blades. Also the intake isn't that hot, so its still going to be very wet even if it does evaporate.

Its injected after compression (in the boosted air), so its not passing over the compressor blades.
Driving in very wet weather will make the car drive worse, you are unlikely to have to do anything, it'll clear up on its own. Just check the maf isnt being covered in sh!te and wait for the weather to turn.
