this will be the clips failing, you will need the repair kit from VW and a few hours of your time

+2  Plastic clip went on my drivers side, opening the window then it disapeared into the door
There is a fair bit to do and not straight forward as when u take ur interior door skin off there's another one with cables threading through back and forth.
I opted for the full replacement which was cables, guides and clips. It all comes in one piece so it was out with the old and in with the new, cost was around £100.

i think there a clip in youtube and it was done in about 15 mins, a bit fiddly but doable especially if your mech minded, i think you can buy the clips for about 15£....dont qoute me though

Once I had everything out it took me about 20 mins to fit the new motor and clips, I reused my mech as there was nothing wrong with it, just the motor had chewed the cables lol
