got this last week after selling the corsa to a friend as it was horrible to drive, paid £340, 151k miles, just needs a new wheel bearing, bodywork tidying up a tad, wound the fuel pump and turbo out a tad so pulls well and still returns good mpg if not booting it

Keep this one for a few years, save what you can and get a car you want when you've saved enough and insurance is a bit cheaper :afro:

already looking at parts for it :lipsrsealed: want to turn it into a bit of a sleeper if I'm honest, looking at bolting on a td04 turbo and uprating a few bits, possibly fitting a boost gauge and fmic (behind bottom grill so hiding away) and putting more boost, about 22 psi is safe with fmic I've heard
-
i'll give the engine 2 months before it goes bang then

want as much power as I can without it going bang
I prefer driving turbo diesels, may look at saving for a mk4 gttdi pd130, especially if i've got an interview at vw on tuesday

In which case you need to disappoint yourself, or it will go bang.
Turn the pump back a bit from where you've wound it out to and turn the boost down a bit.

was looking at a bigger turbo and not running so much boost that it's under strain like the turbo in at the minute, and also a bosch fuel pump as apparently they can take more strain
-
How about just leaving it alone? It's a good car as it is, pretty bullet proof normally, good all rounder. Instead of modding it save the money toward something nicer in the future.

they're only cheap mods I'm looking into, might make me want to keep the car longer

I want powerrrr :undecided:
going to find someone to do the torsion bar as I don't dare as I've heard bad things about doing it
-
At the end of the day you can't afford a car with power yet...
-
cleaned the car a tad (paint is pretty much matte, so a bit of wet and dry and it's came up nice), and wheels painted black, and backbox is off as it was blowing plus it sounds a bit grunty
-
lost a bet, car is now painted matte grey (primer) front numberplate relocated and dewipered on the rear, just needs to go lower as it feels like a mk3 on cornering
-
my mate has a D turbo. hes done the same with regards to fuel pump and turbo, his has been fine for ages, however another mate tried to be cocky and wound it so it was running max boost he could get, trurbo didnt last long :D

fmic very soon then gonna go for 22 psi as that's safest you can do with the t2 turbo which i'm running, out of boost it's amazing on fuel, as soon as you give it some it drops
-
Have you got a boost gauge yet?
This guy ran 28 psi. Look what happened..

boost gauge at the weekend, at the minute it's running about 16-18 psi, but not definite for sure

18 is safe and 22 the limit without heavy engine mods IIRC.
Does your lost bet mean it will be staying primered... or turning pink???

the bet was if I could turn my £15 to £30 within 2 minutes at the bookies I have to spray it in primer, I ended up winning £40, 8 cans of primer later, I may go diablo red with carbon wrapped roof and carbon wrapped plastics

I did, he seen it out the window and said I had done a good job  got to the final 2 but unfortunately got pipped to the post, not bad out of 9 people I suppose, keep on trying

LOL - I have a much better use for 8 cans than that...
I would leave the roof for a couple of weeks after you spray it. In fact, that would be the last thing I would do after painting, lowering and nicer rims. Check out the balance of the look before going for the black roof.
If I was 20 something anyway. As I am not, the black roof is out. ...But each to his own, no probs there.
-
speaking to a friend who does vinyl wrapping, thinking of cherry red with carbon wrapped plastic trim and carbon wrapped roof and anthracite gti-6 alloys, he can get the vinyl cheap and will only charge mates rates, happy days, also planning on sticking a front mount on soon, think I may keep this car for longer than most as I enjoy driving it even though it's french
-
A few weeks then
French cars are usually good fun to drive anyway.

I keep going down hill with my cars
think this will stay longer than a few days/weeks/months haha, few plans for it, and a few in the pipework that are being kept secret :lipsrsealed:
come back a nose this week if you want Craig

£30 fine :lipsrsealed:

My mk3 corners fine thanks and lowering it won't necessarily help the handling.
-
i didnt find them no better on fuel than 1.6 petrols, diesels 5-6p more a litre and they only get 40mpg average i think if that. Maybe i used to much turbo
-
Looked really good standard in white
id have left it at that, got it looking mint as possible and dropped it on its ass
Cant help but feel you have ruined it
-
it's a bit of fun
cooked the brakes and boiled the coolant yesterday, don't think the little boy racers in there saxo vtr's liked being overtaken by a diesel

They were probably just a bit confused as to why a primered up pug went pass them, unable to stop and in a cloud of steam.

How did you possibly boil the coolant on a diesel!
I feel this cars early demise is imminent, my money is on the Turbo sucking up the engine oil!

and the driver wondering why its still running and bounced THRU the limiter with no foot on the Go Pedal

Seen it quite a few times now! Usually on poorly serviced, or cars that have been tinkered with

all you need to do is block the air intake to stop it

Or just chuck it in 5th and stall it.

going to top it up with fresh coolant, the car was getting to about 95 degrees, the fan kicks in at 90 so i thought i'd let it cool down a tad, noticed a leak, I think the rad may be leaking slightly also so will check that tomorrow
-
now lowered it  150mm on the rear and bump stops on the front, checked the brakes whilst it was in the air, front pads and discs look fairly new, so think the servo is on its way out

I had one of them before the Golf. Bought it to save a bit on fuel and as said they're not really any better than a petrol.

next few weeks it's going matte black, being highered a little bit, new clutch, wheel bearing, tyres, fix brakes, fix power steering and a service
-
well it didn't last long
driving to the dirty stancing meet in coventry today, exhaust fell down and was scraping, then top end knocking and turbo seals on the way out, being scrapped in tomorrow
