Hello, forum and driving newbie here.

Passed my test last week, and looking at getting a nice wee Mk IV Golf as a first motor.

I'm just going to have a wee(big) read of the forum and glean as much info as I can.

Soon as I get one I'm sure i'll take about a hundred pictures and upload them all.

I'm looking at a few on Gumtree, seen a 2 litre that is fairly tidy apart from some minor bodywork dents, also a 1.6 but has a "funny noise" so could need alot of work but I'll need to wait to see them before I can make any decisions.

I know, it's harsh times.

I've been looking about and I'm looking at £1000 for the year with my mum on the policy.

Then I need to buy petrol...

Haha can't wait to get my first money pit.

Ah yes I was gonna mention the mar or par on the policy bit, been there done that...it works at treat, I also passed when I was 23....way back in 2005  :laugh:

So I ended up getting a 2002 Mk IV 2L GTI. 

Definitely needs some work done to it, and a good service but it goes and now I can go!

Looks good Craig, nice find and as its a GTI it's worth a grille badge....or are you a badgeless grille man?

It looks like it has either been ripped off or damaged where the rest of the bumper has been damaged, so when I get a new bumper I'll definitely be getting it saying GTI on the front :)
