Title: AUM 1.8t map to 180bhp
Post by: AntMk3GTi on 04 July 2012, 11:41
Hi

can the 150bhp AUM engine be mapped just to 180bhp? i.e have an "anniversary map"? seeing as it is the same engine.

Or is the clutch killing 210bhp map the only option for a first stage? lol

Thanks

Its upto you mate, I wouldnt say 210bhp stage one is clutch killing anyways.
How is your clutch at the moment?
I have replaced my clutch with a standard one with my stage 1 map and its fine infact I can see it lasting a while even when I go for stage 2.
But once this goes I will be going down the solid flywheel conversion.

You don't have enough torque to kill a clutch let alone BHP   :grin:

It really depends on how easy a life the car has lead.

Had a clutch fail on a 45,000 mile Octavia vRS on the post remap test drive; done others with over 100,000 miles and still going strong

:grin:Lol I know 210 bhp isnt a massive amount, was just messing when I said "clutch killing".

Was just wondering of there's a custom map to 180, so I could have the anni performance but without worrying too much about the clutch slipping.

My clutch and gearbox are only a year old but i still want it to last as long as possible, so not just looking for maximum power but want a bit more than the standard 150.

Mate if its only a year old and you dont drive it like you stole everyday it will be fine.
I push mine most weekends and no problem with mine at all.

I cant see there being a problem if you only wanted 180bhp but imo thats a waste of money and performance.

If your going for a remap then go stage 1, 180bhp is nothing special trust me, mine standard was nowhere near quick enough.

It will be an AUQ in the Anni (all 180bhps were AUQ)

Fair enough, cheers for the replys! Stage 1 definitely worth considering then. I've not had the car long so still learning
