I'm sure the nippers among you will be full of how I'm so last week, but I checked for OS upgrades on my SII and I can now confirm it's running on Ice Cream Sandwich and very fine it appears too.
Now, hurry up with the Jelly Bean update, tax dodgers!
So, everyone else with an SII - have you upgraded?
-
No still waiting for O2 to pull their fingers out
-
Got ICS a month ago or so on my wifes S2, much better than Gingerbread.
-
No ICS for my Legend, not even from the ROM makers of Cyanogen
EDIT: A really sh!t consolation is that there is a newer version of Cyanogen 7.2.0 STABLE that was released a few weeks ago.
EDIT2: Looks like someone else has ported CM9 - which is ICS http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562595

Well you're bent so doesn't matter
Cant update via kies phone won't connect and am not rooting it so got to wait for the over the air update
-
CM9 is out for quite a few phones, Steve check if you phone is listed http://get.cm/ if you want now rather than later.
I've installed an unofficial port of CM9 it's still a beta, but very stable in the hour I've been using it and very fast/smooth.
I like the boot animation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o05PQRO1UW4

Do you have to root?
Is the Rom as standard or modded?
I tried to root mine a while ago and couldn't make sense on how to do it. Much easier on HTC's
-
yeah, you'll need to have root. It's a CM rom so comes with their own apps and some customization. One thing that does annoy me is you can't put custom shortcuts on the homescreens, I had all my music playlists on a few homescreens so I could easily choose what to listen to in the car.

Mine just updated over my home wireless?
-
Using kies wireless? I tried that and couldn't see anything :undecided:
Cant even get the phone to connect to my Mac and Kies wouldn't install on the family pc, kept saying no internet connection when installing
-
Whole shooting match was done either over the home wireless network, or 3G.
You're clearly doing it wrong.
-
By going to settings, software update?
Mine always came back with no update. Had to use Samsung Kies.

There were a couple of Kies updates preparing for ICS, but all just ran straight through.
