Title: Rough price for new front pads/discs
Post by: ferris on 02 July 2012, 16:41
58 GT TDI 170

Car just passed the MOT but they said the front discs and pads are nealry gone (?sales pitch)

Quoted £229 to do them, is that a fair price?

Can't afford it at the moment anyway but may need to get them done.

I've only done 4k miles in it since i bought the car 12 months ago so surprised they need changing.

What's so surprising? The car is likely to have done more than 4k on those brakes before you bought it.

DIY. Disks and pads won't be too difficult with minimal knowledge and a few tools

i wouldn't have a clue where to even start i'm afraid.
apart from changing a tyre once and checking the oil level, that is the extent of my car fixing knowledge!!
