Title: Saying Bon Voyage to my valver.....savaging her for new project
Post by: Dogbot on 01 July 2012, 20:06
Well....
what a mad weekend,
sat in a friends workshop Friday night, just having a lads night, take away an banter on flow, we get talking about all the work i need to do to my mk3,
when totalled the cost it was like i could have bought 2 more mk3's, then one of the lad say's why not put all your gear onto a mk2, I explained, ive always wanted a mk2 valver but could never afford one, hence why i got the mk3 that i could afford, anyhow, half hour goes by (just gone midnight at this point) another friend arrives, joins the conversation about a mk2, an drops in with "why dont you buy the 8v thats in the back of my unit, its got a blown head gasket but its a complete car & fairly clean"
i laugh an shrug it off,
"i cant afford it" to which he replies
"i'll make you a deal, If you put the abf in it & wide track it with the mk3 running gear its yours for £300"

well this cant be Ignored can it!!!
I literally legged it up the road like my life depended on it, to his unit to see it,
bad lighting an half covered with sheets an stuff stored all round it looked pretty damn good & it was black too, one of the colour's i wanted, I couldnt hold off, had to call for the boss,
10 mins later the wife arrives to me looking like a 5 year old on christmas morning....
naturally being a dubber too she gets it, an agrees to let me blow the holiday fund on this golf we can barely see properly, couldnt get inside, & couldnt move because of its location in the unit, left to go home & didnt sleep a wink, it hadnt sunk in I actually owned a mk2!!!
Saturday morning breaks, I had to wait till 2 so i could get to it, I was bricking it all day, see things have a knack of turning to pot when i set my heart on something an the fear that this golf was going to be rotten was almost to much to take,

Gladly she was far from rotten!! in fact a very solid example!! few age marks an blemishes an tesco dings but for a G reg she looks fab!!

I will be breaking my golf in about 2 months an there will be lots for sale, i will put them up in classifieds but drop me a pm if you need anything, i will make a list to save stuff for people, even down to little trim pieces dont be shy, it will break my heart to do it to her so i want to make sure she lives on in other golfs!!!
