Car has been making a clunking noise when you drop the clutch after reversing for a week or so, it is now becoming a little stiff when shifting fro 2nd to 3rd and back again, and also pops out of gear from time to time!
Any idea's? Hope its not gearbox, I am thinking it may be the gearbox mount as I hit a speed bump at quite some speed just before the problem with the clunking started!

my old XR2i started doing that.. then after time it started making the most loudest "wizzing" noise which got faster when the wheels got faster... had to get a new gearbox in the end.. only cost me £150 for a new gearbox and fitting!! but thats old ford parts for ya! CHEAP lol

I reckon you want to stop reversing for so long..."after reversing for a week or so..". Sorry couldnt resist it!! What about gear linkage as that transpires often as a difficulty in engaging gears????
Mine doesnt clunk but does make a sort of whine which is a bit worrying

New gearbox time.....

Mine is doing this and I think in the long run its a new gearbox. I sorted mine by draining the oil and putting the best synthetic geabox oil you can get and I adjusted the gear linking. I dont recomend you doing this beacuse it took me ages to get it right.
