Hi Guys
Just wondering what wheels to fit to my new Golf, i recon its been lowered a good 40mm (close to 60mm), my old golf had 17" rims on it want a change on the one. Got the new front end coming this week. Decided to go for a plain 5bar grill with just two cross haired spots, recon it should look good. watcha recon?
So back to the wheels, i was thinking of a set of Ronal Turbos, what size though, and what type, i do like the look when they fit a nice big fat low profile tyre to them. i mean like this (http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b185/kn0bby/golfrims.bmp) See what i mean.. Looks good doesnt it.. Its currently sitting on 15" though, suppose if i go with a smaller profile tyre it will sit lower, wont it?

Let me know your thoughts, any input would be appreciated,
Cheers

Turbos with 195/45/15's.
AFAIK they only come in 15x7 (et 38?) Good wheels if you intend to go low.
-
CAn I have your old ones when you get the new ones?
Nick

How much you wanna give me for them?
Its been lowered a good 40mm.. with the 15" ronals on u recon it would silly...
cheers

I've got Ronals on 195/50/15, but you should be OK with 195/45/15.
Go for it, they'll look good!
-
They wont look silly just because you're "only" 40mm, when I said they were good if you want to go real low I meant because of the width and offset they allow you to tuck them right up in the arches which wider wheels or wheels with lower et's won't.
-
i'll have the front end!
-
keefusgti - Wanna post some more pictures of yours in here.. Is yours lowered?
capoot - No problem, mail me golf@getripped.co.uk
Alexg40 - My old mk2 had 17" on and these just fit under the arch, i liked the look, just wondered how mine would look. think its got 14" on at the mo.. So 15" with a lower profile tyre will make the car lower but wont make the arch any closer to the tyre will it... ummm Watacha think??? Any ideas what size tyre.. want a realy nice low profile tyre...
-
you have email!

Some more pics of my car, standard G60 Suspension at the mo with the G60 arches too:

Try these people http://www.advancedautosport.com/ronal.htm they do the rim excl VAT for £90, and a set of boots should only set you back £120-150.

Personally i don't like those wheels, don't mean to offend everyone, each to there own and all that! I think they look very old! it must just be me :)
I'd go for those deep dish bbs type ones, the ones that a member recently had refurbed, or the whels that dizzie has!
keefusgti - your car is really nice btw, love the colour!
edit - please don't hate me :)
-
I'm sure know one will hate you, its just an opinion. Personally I love Ronal Turbos and I'm starting to save for a set.
-
yeah i know what your saying but i like the retro styling of them, want a set as winter wheels but am too tight to spend that much on a second set of rims!!!
-
Its that whole retro look... I like it..
The rims that dizzie has got i had on my old golf.. I fancy a change.. i love the big rim look but fancy something smaller and a bit different.. ANd i dont like them i know i could pass them on or sell them on ebay.

Just had an email from dubmeister.co.uk u cant get the stretched tyre look with a 7" wide tyre... they said u could do it with a smart car tyre but the speed rating is too low
Any thoughts?
Dave
