as above... well what i thought would be a normal job turned out to be and @rse!!!, got me parts from euro parts today, and set about fitting the new ebay sl@g with discs/pads alround and a steering gaitor and sorting some dodgey wiring............
soooo...jacked up, on stands all round.... wheels off, though right front calipers 1st there normally the easiest.... hmm not in this case..... top caliper bolt on driver side front caliper fooked snapped off, so had to drill and re tap once caliper off, passenger front caliper, top bolt ok, bottom one snapped so same again (b@stard cause a 30 min job turned into a 2hr tw@t), rear calipers (the ones that are normally tw@ts) came off a piece of cake, knocking the bearing shells from the old discs was a pain but got it dont no probs, calipers didnt ssem to bad, pumped out too extent and pushed back in, seem free ok, handbrake mechanism seemed ok on bth aswell.
whilst waiting for delivery of parts i set about fitting steering gaitor i have from a old rack, was a bit of a pain but 1/2 hour and it was done, the brake pipes it had supposidly been failed on looked like new to me (probs backstreet garage trying to get some work...) so cleaned and inspected and all ok, so copper greased em ready to look nice for my mot man...
brakes arrived so fitted all and pummpe dup the pedal and all seems ok, took for a spin, bit dodgey but as they started to bed in all seemed well, got back home, n/s hand brake was not working before , now rock hard and full on, but no matter how i adjust etc the drivers side i cant get it to lock the wheel, so im expecting a fail on this (probs caliper fooked but it seemed ok to me!!)
then there was the off side side light not working, hmm, weird one this that i couldnt figure out, with side lights on only getting 2-3v to the lamp.... bad earth i though but checked out and all ok, fuse ok, bulb holder oke etc, so in the end i gave up and took the feed from the nearside one, so all working and will pass the mot with that....
so shes booked in for thurs, shouldnt fail on owt else as ive checked all, just the drivers side rear caliper i think thats gonna flump it but we'll see!!!,
well im fooked and having a few well deserved beers tonite!!
