Title: Old Lambo shot
Post by: Winso on 20 June 2012, 22:00
I've not really been taking many photos recently, just refining photoshop techniques etc a bit. About 2 hours ago I started messing with this old shot from back in 2010 just to see what I could get out of a fairly unspectacular RAW image. Quite pleased with how it turned out.

From the top it goes RAW original, jpeg conversion, final pic.

Nice work.

What were your original edited shots like from back in 2010 as a comparison of your editing?

Thanks guys!

DubFan - the first time round I only really processed the shots that were artificially lit, I think this is the only one without flash.

The base image I used for the edit I did a couple of days ago was actually one that was meant to be artificially lit but the flash didn't fire!

thatwillis - I can't totally remember but I think the final image had about 15 - 20 adjustment layers to it! I think the key is doing lots of small local adjustments rather than big ones on the whole image. The masking is a pain in the ass but its worth it. All main adjustments were either done in curves or levels, theres a saturation one in there somewhere, a low opacity multipy blending layer, colour balance and then also a screen blending layer at the end for the glow. The car and the background were edited separately until the last stages too. Sorry, that's probably not a whole lot of use!
