now that looks like it will compete with the ipad. Any news on pricing?
Loving the quote "powered by an Intel Core processor and runs on the full-blown Microsoft Windows 8 Pro operating system"

I'm not sure how well the ARM version runs, but as long as they aren't more expensive than the iPad I'm sure it will do reasonably well. It's a pity Windows RT (the ARM version of the OS) isn't manageable by using normal techniques, most likely because it's based on the Home version rather than the Pro version (unconfirmed afaik). Which imo is silly as Windows RT will come with the Metro version of Office which would be an awesome deal for businesses  This is one trick MS have seemed to have missed.
We'll have to see what other OEM's bring out, they're going to be annoyed with MS because MS won't have to pay themselves the cost of the OS - so they'll make more money or undercut their OEM partners :lipsrsealed: I'm liking the look of the surface and the two keyboard options, I may just get one :lipsrsealed:

At least they're being consistent

So its like the Asus Eee-pad transformer series but running windows instead of android... I'll stick with my Transformer as I imagine battery life will be 10-times more than the power hungry windows os.
However it does seem like a good idea, hopefully they get rid of IE sooner than later

It looks like the ARM version will be priced to match the iPad, while the Intel version (with full blown Windows 8) will be priced higher.
"The ARM-based version will be available with either 32GB (gigabytes) or 64GB of storage. Microsoft said they would be priced at a similar rate to other tablets using the same type of processor built by other firms.
It added that the Intel-based versions would be offered with either 64GB or 128GB of storage and would have price tags comparable to ultrabook laptops."
