Title: Gti rear axle onto non gti golf.
Post by: R3p on 20 June 2012, 12:28
Hi all

On my last mot i had an advisory on the rear axle being rusted but not excessive so she passed. Im going to research it more ofc i only just thought about it this morning as i have a friend braking a mk2 8v gti, but i was thinking of putting a Gti rear axle on with disc brakes. (Mine being drums), I have some knowledge of mechanics, ive done coilovers etc, so my question is how hard is it to change them over. I would put new bushes etc on and im thinking i would need the brake servo and pipes to the rear but would i need a lots else?. Its a mk2 1989 1.3 4+E if it makes any difference. Would the Anti roll bar cause any head aches also?

thanks in advance of any info.

Will go straight on, just need brake compensator and new brake lines on the rear. I'd grab front brakes and servo/master cylinder off your mate too and fit it all in one go.
