Can you fit 312 mm brakes on the front?

I know that for 330mm the minimum wheel size is 17" and the Ibiza Cupra R 4 stud ran 305mm on 16" wheels.

sorry to highjack but as its a brake size thread do annis come with bigger brakes than normal gtis? also what size is standered gti 8v front brake disc ment to be?

yes you can. If your gti is P plate or after it should have come with 288mm. Before P plate they came as 280mm and smaller. On all anni they are 288mm. If you want bigger brakes all you realy need is the 312 carriers a space plate made & 6mm longer bolts (if you braking is 288mm) it has been covered in the mmaintanance section have a lookie there.

ah right was just asking as i had my mates anni at mine yesterday and was going over it for him making sure all was well with it and i noticed his front discs were bigger than mine.

Sweet, its a p reg anni.
My mates got the mk4 anni carriers, calipers discs etc.

if you want to use the mk4 calipers as well you will need some brake lines made up that have mk3 connections on 1 end and mk4 on the other. F17 BAD had some made up by a company called HEL cant remember what he paid now but it was pretty resonable
or just use the spacers on mk3 calipers as said above :)

yeah i had the braided lines made up because i am running Audi S3 312 mm up front and the connectons on the caliper are different (dont see point in upgrading brakes and leaving rubber hoses their but theirs ways around it as said already - 288 calipers are the same as the 312mm calipers)
My original brakes were the 280mm as my car is early spec (Aug 1993 model)

Its for rear brakes obv. Just done rears on a mates mk2. Fronts u could probally find a vag that has the same lench hose to calliper

You only need to change the lines if you are changing from 280s.
288s have the same banjo connection regardless of whether they are Mk4, S3, TT etc.

No they won't.
Some...not all.
They do NOT fit under 16" RXIIs without mods.
However, most single piece 16" wheels that aren't too deep on the dish, should be OK.

I think I would have problem fitting them because of my split rims. I have a 14mm spacer at front.

Interesting, I had some one piece wheels as a temp measure and they were fine, did wonder if a split rim would be a close fit and you have answered that :smiley:
