they both just stopped working...could this be a fuse? and where is the fuse box?

fuse box is under drivers footwell. might be swich as is commen folt on the mk3 as my window is starting to play up an mirrors dont work but fuse r all ok. hope u get it sorted :smiley:

alright cheers buddy.... the passenger side switch doesnt work either...im guessing its the fuse... does anyone have a fuse diagram or know which fuse controls em!?!?

As check the wiring going through the rubber boot between hinge panel and door itself, drivers door that is!!! Slip the boot off at one end and push it back along the wires to the other end so you can see alll the wires and check to see if any are split or broken. I've seen this on many cars when thing like central locking, windows or mirrors have stopped working and the main suspects like fuses are fine. You can spent a lot of time and money checking relays, motors and fuses to find it's a split wire shorting out or a broken wire.
The boot where the loom runs between car body and a door/tailgate or boot lid is a bit of a weak point as the wires moving around everytime you open or close it, causing the wires to rub against each other and being pulled and pushed a little bit each time. It has a simular effect as you twisting a paper clip back and forth until it snaps (not quite as quick but simular), check the fuse first but it sounds like a feed into the switches or an earth wire as both circuits are at fault.
Check the drivers door loom first as the power goes into your mirror and on to the driver mirror, or back out of the drivers door to the passenger door and mirror. If the passenger loom was at fault only the passenger mirror would not work, same goes for the windows as the switches on the drivers door are master switches. Simular to the Indicator circuit where the master switch in that circuit is the hazard switch, if you ever get a problem with the indicators always start by checking the hazard switch :wink:
