when turning or going over bumps in the road i get creaks. i haven't got power steering so i didnt know whether the steering rack needed lubing up but i'm a bit of a novice.

Its it the same sound when turning and going over bumps? Also where does it sound like the noise is coming from?

Yeah it is yeah. And seems to be coming from the drivers side more than the passengers

Could be a top mount. If its doing it when your going over bumps and not steering I doubt it's your steering rack. Is it like a rubber rubbing type of creaking sound?

could be CV joint, rod ends, top mounts, suspension bearings, if you have cheap coilovers they could be leaking. even wheel bearing.

btw you sure you dont have power steering? just my cl 1.4 does you might need to top it up??

could have play in the shock leg, mine creaks & dongs like a git because i have a dead shock leg on the cheapo coilies

Nah definitely don't have power steering (got the guns to show it ;) )

I'll have a look in a sec to see what i can see.

Sounds more like the boat. Sorry forgot to mention it only really does it when the weather is warm.

mine sounds like a boat but i know its my top mounts bearing gone! now sounds like the titanic.

Bad times will have to get a mechanic to look at mine i think.
