A lot of money to spend to  just to have a slipping fan belt noise

Good turbo set up sounds best but that's just my opinion  :nerd:

A vr6 turbo is by far a better sound than most cars in the world!

Oh yes, An them is good for just under 500bhp on std internals, (according to Vr6oc)

Do you know anyone running anthing close to that on standard internals?

I have two mates with VR6Ts, one around 360BHP (FWD, in a Corrado), another over 480BHP (4WD in a Rallye)...both on forged pistons and rods, but a standard crank. Neither run spacer plates.
Neither would ever suggest you can get 500 BHP on standard pistons/rods.

Maybe you can...for a matter of minutes.

There is so much bullsh!t and 'apparently's on the internet...speak to those who have built them and it's neither easy or cheap.
But boy, are they quick once done.

i Know someone running 320 on standard internals..... i wouldnt want to run more than that to be honest.....

gonna have to agree with Ess_Three

id say any more than 300 is pushing it on standard

They suffer from heat as it is!

My mate runs 340 low boost and thats how the car has been for the past 4-5 years. Standard engine but with spacer plate

Engine has only ever failed due to a broken pump fin blocking a vein.

How much you trust it is another thing....

Mines gonna be running around 325-350 on standard internals with plate and custom fan set up

I'm going for 290-300 pointless anymore than that in a fwd car I used to have a 2.1 16v fiesta turbo that was mental and running 30psi and 328 hp but u just can't get the grip down even running slicks it would spin them up even with the extra weight of the vr over the front wheels I still think grip will suffer on another note who's the best mapper for all these vrts or are people running different management mega jolt mega squirt for ex

Yep this is why I scrapped the idea of building one. If it was in a 4wd then go for big power but fwd is pointless fun

Would love to turbo my vr but looking like it will b too expensive  engine has done 128k+ so prob not wise anyway.

Ud prob be suprised just run in vrs at 100k haha I've seen a few turbod ones at 150k plus

I've seen vr bores still showing the honing marks at 170k..... This 100k myth has to be the funniest thing still hanging around from the old engineering days, the tolerances and material quality has improved so much it's almost not worth worrying about provided its been serviced correctly

The main issue with VR's is the cam chains, they do seem to give issues around 100k.

Yes, you are obviously quite right, No dispute from me on that one! i just meant recently ive had this type of comment from a few people i know that have vag cars that are approaching the 100k mark, an they seem to be under the impression that they will just fail to work and go band... lol

I still remember a Top Gear topic going back to the original Top Gear (before May and Hammond) where the compared two Golf Mk2 GTi's, one with delivery mileage and the other with 80k and both in standard spec. Sat them at the begin of a runway and the blasted them off the line and the 80k car was a whole lot quicker and Top Gear said stated that VW's of the time aren't really run in until 80k!!!

I dissagree.
300+ is pointless in a car with a crap chassis and little ability to put the power down.

Put 300BHP+ into a Mk5/6 GTI and it will do a fine job of putting the power down.
In a Mk3...it will be hopeless.
