Title: Strange knocking noise - rev range 1-2K
Post by: Bish922 on 13 June 2012, 15:57
Hi there!

Noticed while driving along this morning a knockin maybe slight rubbing noise when driving slow between revs 1-2K. Sounds like its coming from gear box area while inside the car at least. It goes after 2K and not really there if I floor it. Clutch isn't slipping at all so just pondering if I should be worried about this!

Thanks

Does the noise go with engine speed or road speed?

Does it come back when you change from 3rd to 4th for instance.

If it goes with road speed then it could be CV joint(s).

No its doesn't do it on idle. Oil is fine as far as I know I checked it about 2 weeks ago and it was ok, it is still there with road speed if you are listening out for it. What would you mean by bottom end?

Thanks

Little update...... checked oil all ok. The noise is much more audible in 1st and 2nd pretty much non exisitant in 4th and 5th could this be related to the drive shaft?
