Title: VW Germany HQs contact??
Post by: gti210ps on 13 June 2012, 13:21
Anyone knows how i can contact VW's HQs in Germany?  (email/phone) I'd like to file a complaint against my local dealer after a number of my complaints to the local HQs have fallen on deaf ears  They are refusing to do some fixing on my GTI even though it is still within warantee...

Try trading standards. You're more likely to receive some sort of reasonable feedback from them over VW's HQ.

Cheers to all, if it's down to the law down here i guess i won't bother, a pair of struts worths about 80 euros so...

Btw, just called the dealer AGAIN.  They told me that VW in Germany checks the service record of cars and won't cover the expenses even if the car is within warantee, unless the car is serviced at the dealer's.  Now, they asked me to service the car there once so that they are able to cover the struts.  In other words, they need me to pay something like 500 euros for them to cover an 80 euro part.  Is that playing me or what??  How come VW Cyprus is checked by Germany and VW UK is not???
Healthy and a good perspective on the size of the problem. 80 euro...

You have now posted 2 threads about complaining to Germany. Apart from the stress you are causing to yourself and those around you, Germany will likely come back with support for the dealer who are abiding by the T&Cs of the warranty contract. Which you are not. That will only cause you more stress.

I think you should mark it up to experience and let it be. 80 euro is simply not worth the hassle. IMO.

It's not about the 80 euros mate, in the past 10 years i've paid over 120K euro for 5 brand new cars for myself and my wife [Golf TDI MKIV, Golf 1.6 MKIV, Polo, Golf GT 170 MKV, Golf GTI MKVI] [all for private use] and I'd expected the local VW to show some courtery and not throw the maintenance card to my face for 80 lousy euros, especially for a part (hatch struts) that's not even engine-related.  Plus, from what i know, the law in the UK for instance says warantee is valid irrespective of the garage that is doing maintenance, as long as it's VAT registered and uses genuine parts and just wanted to check whether VW has an international policy on this or whether it comes down to the laws of every country.  Cheers.

From what I remember from when I used to sell cars the servicing schedule is only a recommendation from the manufacturer as to when to get it serviced it's not a contract. So if a part fails prematurely they have to replace it as part of the warranty unless they can prove you have done something to break it. We had a guy with a 60k mile renault laguna dci that had never been serviced and the turbo went and we had to repair it under warranty under trading standards say so and also from Renault. Now this was 3 years ago but as far as I know it's all still the same. If in doubt get trading standards in.

mate i'm in cyprus, there's no such thing as trading standards.  Still there should be a universal policy by VW Germany, after all whatever the individual country's dealers are changing on a car, the part comes from Germany VW so it's their expenses.

Really, you're going to offer that advice?

I think you should take the above advice.

Not least because it will let you get some sleep but also because if you manage to kick up a fuss and get the dealer to replace said struts, would you really feel comfortable that they are going to give your car the care and attention it is due?

If the office is run by monkeys then you can bet the workshop will be run by monkeys too.
