Trying to decide which system to go for be it the res or non-res (3" tbe)
Would be interesting to hear both or at least the non-res on the Sunday at inters if anyone can help?
Cheers
-
Milltek have their own stand there, normally with demo cars
Although an R8 isn't exactly a direct comparison
I think there were a couple of GTI's on their stand last year though
-
Will be having a chat with them definitely.
It will be one hell of a system if it makes it sound like an r8 ha I'll have one!
-
I should have by then ;)

...........if it's like the MK5 GTI get the non res.The resonated one on the mk5 wasn't as loud as the factory system.

are you planning on going non res?
Would be useful to hear it from inside the cabin on a mk6 with it's 'added soundproofing' albiet yours is a tfsi and mine a tsi lump.
-
as a general rule of thumb when it comes to the milltek exhausts i tend to recommend the non-resonated unless you're having a full turbo back system. You'll be grateful for the extra silencing on long motorway trips with a bigger downpipe/sports cat!

cheers bro thats useful. Second person thats said with the downpipe and sport cat the res will be better.
but non res....

I believe Milltek will have an Mk6 Edition 35 and a GTD this year as well as a few other bit's of VAG
-
Hey, mine is on stand running full turbo back race system with sports cat and no rear silencers, come have a listen.

awesome, is that the milltek stand? I'll be sure to drop by
-
Yes I'm there both days maybe doing handling course and sprints also so u will get a good listen to car under load.
-
I'm currently getting quotes for a Milltek Cat Back (to go with a Carbonspeed Intake and Lowering Springs) when it's gone through its third birthday MOT and service next month so I will definitely be coming to the Milltek stall on the Sunday. I think I've decided on non res too but it'd be nice to hear it in the flesh.
-
Sounds real nice. lost count of how many times people have said how good it sounds. Really looking forward to the show now,
-
told mines now landed and should be having a bit more silencing at the rear due to me not warming to a mates rocco r with a catback and little silencing, must be an age thing lol
-
How old r u m8? My cars just for fun as I use my van for daily use, thinking of having a decat when I go stage 2 +

i don't use the Eddie as my daily but just found the lack of silencing not to my taste (the rocco r catback was louder than my full non res on my rocco GT on the db meter) and i want it to be more discreet, in reality the suspension and chassis upgrades float my boat more and make a better car
-
out of interest do you happen to recall what the db reading was?
-
Maybe in ten years I would go for the more sensible system but can't help going thro tunnels flat out at the min

i can't as was a couple of years back but noticeable when we went out in respective cars

zorsts are always subjective in terms of noise of what appeals but i never get bored of dropping the window and a couple of gears in a tunnel

got the Milli 3" race system fitted today to the Ed35 (with the iddy rear silencers) and well pleased with results, on way home had seats down so more intrusive but took it for a blast with seats back up and all is well and nice and sedate at 70mph, need to adjust the tips tomorrow as too recessed for my liking, tips look spot on oem and not too large

no pics just yet as car is sporting its Inters livery and its been a bit full on, in essence identical in appearance to mk6 system, my pipes are tucked in a bit within the diffuser so can't see Milltek 35 until its hot, i've got some gloss black trims coming next week which car will run day to day
really love the car now
-
some pics of the Ed35 system

I have priced a turbo back milltek with de-cat, centre silencer and twin rear silencer for my ED35.
What system do you have on your car?
I like the idea of the pipes being tucked in at the diffuser, seen a GTI with the milltek pipes sticking out so far you can see where it reduces to go into the back box when looking at the car from the side. Nearly enough to put me off buying the exhaust. Pics of your ED35 with the pipes tucked in would be great.
Gary.

i have mine tucked in to the diffuser. they're so far in you can't see the milltek writing on the tips
personally i prefer the look of it when they're not sticking out.
there is a lot of play on the tail pipes to get them how you want them and they're easy adjusted.

That looks alot better than the one i seen, its good to know there is adjustment on the tailpipes to suite the owners preference.

Agreed that looks spot on to me.
-
I saw an interesting picture yesterday showing how much the exhaust expands when it gets hot, the picture showed it flush against the defuser when it was cold and then when it was hot it poked put quite a noticeable bit.
Jim
-
thats right
when you fit an exhaust you should have it so it sits falling to the front of the car on its haters
then when its up to temp it will sit somewhere near level on its hangers if you get me
-
If I was keeping the GTI I would be getting a new exhaust for sure, they look loads better and like the sound.
I wonder what the Milltek will sound like on an M135i, no need to answer as everyone knows its would sound like a beast....

Uses the normal Milltek GTI rear section with a custom centre pipe, adds a nice deep but subtle sound
-
looks so much better with the GTI diffuser than the standard effort
-
Very nice Steve, I reckon you may have started something here.
Cheers,
Jim

So it's a gti wonnabe then... but then again you do have the umph to match Steve...

and tbh from the first time I saw a mk5 I've always said that if I was ever lucky enough to own a golf then I wud get a set of monza's for it, it's got ABSOLUTEY nothing to do with wanting to be a gti really...and as this is my first golf I had to have a set of monza's...
