Also try all the specialists like Adrian FLux and HIC. They're all pretty helpful, but your number one rule is shop around!

I'm 27 with 2years NCB and a rather chequered driving history. I'm with Adrian flux on the mini and I've got it at £480 full comp for a car that is basiccly a race car. Not bad.

I pay £520 odd for the MKII GTi with 0 NCB and my history and that's with ELephant.

I talked Elephant into giving me a £40 discount when I renewed, just by telling them that I'd take my business elsewhere.

Try:
Greenlight insurance 0870 7535455 and
BrentAcre VW Insurance Specialists 01792 650933, got some good quotes off them even with Mods.

Don't forget to add a parent or two to your quote, it always brings down the price. Try adding one parent, check the price then add the other and see if it comes down.
Also tick the box that says you have access to another car, eg your parents car.
I always try these tricks when I'm trying a quote online.

Im with Zurich paying £682 fully comp with 2 yrs NCB for my 1.6 Driver. Havent dealcared my CAT 1 alarm just yet or my alloys. Best declare the alloys as some chav got their eye on them. One of my centre caps went 'missing' last night.

I was with elephant last year, just renewed with Admiral for 597 pounds, fully comp on my VR6 with 2 years ncb.   Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ Elephant wanted nearly 800 for the renewal, when i told them that was just silly, the woman spoke to the pricing department and then offered me a 12 pound discount!    What is really stupid is that Elephant and Admiral are the same company!

i thik i've sorted my problem - i odn't have to declare alloys if they're vw ones... so i asked my daddy v.nicely

although the mx5 ones fit with a bit of altering and look lovely - but i'd rather save myself £250 on my insurance!!! lol - anyone got any suggestions for vw alloys?
quite fancy the gti ones!? will i look a total t!t if they're on my driver!!?

they'd look good.. but if they get nicked the insurance will only provide you with what the car came with from the factory.. and being a driver that'll be steelies :undecided:

use two seperate sets of locking wheel nuts, and keep the keys for them in the house at night (whereas most people leave them in the boot or glovebox)

I'll be insuring mine with nationwide, found it far, far cheaper putting the old dear as a named driver, even though she hasn't drive for 20 years!

just thought i'd update you on the situation....

finally got my cover sorted - i've had to insure the car as standard for £42 a month 3rd party fire and theft this is because ive got to drive the car for a VIC check on thursday so i can eventually get it taxed and on the road. YAY

When i renew in dec im lookin at £300 with 2yrs No claims, so then i can lower the b!tch and get things sorted. It's not that long to wait.......

least i might be able to get to leeds and get to meet you all!!!

Youv done ok in the end there. Im 19 with nearly a years no claims driving a 1.4 mk3 which is modified. Cost me £1200 fully comp after much shopping arround! Oh well, its the price you pay i suppose.

Good luck in meeting anyone from here, we mostly hide in caves well away from the outside world!

You can put any one you like onto your own policy as a named driver, no matter what other car they drive or what there insurance policy is like.
My parents have their own 2 cars on other policies, and I still put them on my policy to bring my insurance down, even though it's unlikely that they'll drive it at any time.

Im with CIS paying £600 on a mk3 golf 1.8 and im 19 however shamefully using my dads few years no claims. Thought about starting my own no claims with elephant as it was £1000 with just myself every over company wanted around £2000!!
