Title: IT' fixed i think----- sorry for all the posts but please read this one
Post by: rageraver on 12 June 2012, 21:25
hey guys, wat a bodge my new car has been, was out lookin around and i noticed that the atuator was set to hold the wastegate half open?? i adjusted so it hold it shut. now car is flying from around 2300rpm the turbo hits and pulls like a mother,

all i need to no is what shud my peek boost be..... it went up to a tad over 20psi when i floored it in second but it drops down to like 19psi, in 3rd it did the same peeked a little then droped down, didnt hit a fuel cut but just wanted to make sure im not going to hurt anything...... as i have no dump valve it makes a nice turbo chatter.... i here this is bad (yeah??) so going to take it steay intill i get a recirc.

also behind the cover for the sunroof switches ive found a box with vortex on it and a race flag, has 3 wires one looks like a phone line sort of wire and it has a little adjuster on it..wat is this

thats ok then, i was looking round trying to find faults and noticed alot of play in the actuator arm so i backed the back nut and the wastegate arm slid back , what about the boost psi?? is that to high?? proper goes now lol

The amount of boost is about right but id be worried its not fuelling right for it and it might run lean. Get it to R-Tech once youve got a DV and let them check it over and map it properly

how cud i tell if its running lean..... how come he say it sounds hi but you say sounds right lol.... whats psi can the engines take, just dont wanna break anything.

also how cud i turn it down a little then?

just really dont want it to go band.... will the dv lower it a bit or atleast the spike

how does it sound right he dont know if or what map is on it a standard engine runs 7psi stage1 boost to18-19psi and holds at 14-15psi if its holding higher than this without a map then summat aint right

My k03s with a stage one map used to peak at 19-20psi and hold 17-18. It just depends on the turbo and who mapped it ect

thats my point he dont know if its had a map or not

i been sniffing to much of the gloss today if its boosting that high it must be mapped surely  :embarassed:

Without a map its definitely too high? But nobody would fit a k04 and not get it mapped surely?  :undecided:

is it possible to boost that high and not hit fuel cut inless it had been mapped?? yh k04 interooler exhaust induction kit

Hahaha k04-001 I think. Theres no specific psi to break it mate. Standard boost is 8psi on a k03s and 10-12 on a k04-023 in an s3. So id want it in that region if I was unsure on the map. Just drive it steady and get it booked in somewhere?

FFS, just get the car checked over by someone who knows what they are doing! You're posting the same stuff up in every thread you create.

Until your 100% sure on the hardware installed, and that it installed correctly and mapped to suit then I'd be taking it seriously easy. To be completely honest your car sounds and looks like one big bodge, if your not careful its all going to end in a big bang.

lol kuzz i got loads of dollar to go pay someone to say its mapped.....car isnt a bodge all has been redone and re piped....just by delving deeper i saved 1 trip already to a tuner to go ur wastegate is semi open. so i was asking members if they fort my boost level now was correct, and by what they hav said it seems so, i was just asking for members to comment on what there psi is.. also it seems it wudnt be possible to have that boost without a remap.... so inless ur paying for the tuner or there is one local wich is free of charge  i think i shud eliminate all other possibilities  wich dont cost me money!

cheerz dom
