Went to pick my Mk2 Gti up this morning after a night on the piss. Got nothing from the starter! Not even a click from the solenoid. I have a Toad Power Key fitted and this was not flashing as it usually does. The battery was tops, but this is the weird bit... When I took the keys out of the ignition, the oil pressure light continued to flash as does the coolant level warning light (it is low on coolant but this usually goes off when the keys are removed). Anyway, I suspected the immobiliser! I disconected the battery for 30 seconds, reconnected and low and behold she started. When I got back to the flat, I took the keys out and both the lights were flashing and still are as I write this. Does anyone know what is happening here, I think they will drain the battery by tommorrow. How do I stop them flashing when the key isn't in the ignition?

take the clock fuse out? :undecided:

Well, yes. That will cure the problem but it is not fixing the fault. Does anyone know why this might be happening. If my ignition barrel was shorting out, then I should be able to use the wipers with the keys out also but this is not the case.

I would deffo say something to do with the ignition barrel.. weird
