Title: Sunroof motor
Post by: robo22sri on 12 June 2012, 09:34
Right guys i need some help!

My sunroof is not working :( It was working fine the other day, i had the sunroof open and locked the car on the full closure and the sunroof didn't shut :(

I then got back in the car and i can here the motor relay clicking but the motor is not working, i removed it from the sunroof cassette

The motor has a 5 wire plug on it, what are the points to check for power etc?

This happened to me a while back and I just manually closed the roof using the tool that's under the plastic cover at the front of the roof, then tried the roof again and its been fine since,so looks like it just got jammed and needed freeing up which closing manually obviously achieved.

I think they can get caught against the bump stops and jam causing the relays to go a bit mental!

I have shut sunroof with the allen key :(

The motor still doesn't work, went and tried it again yesterday and still not working.

At a guess the motor is fubar??

unlikely to be motor. These sunroofs jam up for a past time. Make sure the little white cover that slides over where you put the key is closed.

Right i have had a play around with the sunroof

The motor is working :) yay, but it only takes the sunroof back and does not stop!

I have taken the motor off the sunroof cassete and it only goes backwards and goes forward for about 3/4 rotations :(

If i have it on the sunroof cassette it will go all the way back but then wont shut the sunroof after!

have you checked that both metal slide runner things move both ways?
my sunroof opens but then dont close as one of mine is broken on one side and only goes one way. so i need a new sunroof.
iv just wound mine into position with allen key and put and coupe of screws in the broken side to hold it closed. and its now just a sky light.

yeah i cant remember what the bits are called but if you look at the sides from inside the car under the plastic thing you will see a silver metal thing. thats the bit that the motor moves back and forth that opens and closes the sunroof. you can see if they both work by making the sunroof slide back they when you try to close it again only one will move back again and the sunroof with jam. then you have to wind it back with allen key.
if only one moves back then the other side is broken and you need a new sunroof.
