Ive had a few issues with my rear suspension mainly noise and a shaking when going over bumps..
To cut a long story short ive changed the rear top mounts upper and lower parts and polybushed the beam with prothane inserts...
Still i had the same faults as i had before....
Ive lived with it for a week or so but today when cleaning it i noticed both rear wheels are toe'd in...
O/S rear wheel is toe'd in a little
N/s rear wheel is toe'd in big time and its cambered in quite badly too
Any ideas, are they adjustable??

there is no adjustment in the rears at all.
only thing i can think of is that a previous owner shimmed the stub axles to run silly camber in order to run silly wheels?

Good point.. i'll have to check tomorrow eve..
Although it is mainly on the n/s, and i would of thought they would have done both sides to match if they had gone to all that bother.

More likely is that some twat has jacked the car up on the rear beam and it's bent.
Look under the car. Is the beam straight, side to side and front to back.

DH I have never seen a bent rear subframe on a mk2 before through jacking but wouldn't they toe out if you jack them on the rear beam? :undecided:
Remove the stub axels and see if they have camber shims or might need to fit some shims / new beam.

Ok.. Had a look today
No bends or visable kinks in the beam anywhere
No shims fitted
No play in bearings
im confused...
Might remove the poly inserts just to see, but i cant see them giving camber and toe on both rear wheels
Then the stubs, but to have them both bent?? seems unlikely

Sounds like the rear axle is bent, find dead center of the beam (a) and mark it, using this reference point, carefully measure from the center point to identical reference points near the hub mounts (b and c) but NOT the hubs themselves, this is to check the axle geometry only!
Measurement from a to b should be equal to a to c anything more than a 2-3mm discrepancy is pointing towards the axle being bent.
If the alignment is equal, then thats pointing to one, or both of the spindles being damaged
Also assume that if your axle is bent, the likelihood is that the spindles may also be bent... locating a straight 2nd hand complete axle is probably the best way forwards
You could take the car for a rear geometry check, but as nothing is adjustable, they wont be able to reset anything!

Thanks for the advice I'll measure it up today.. Is it likely il find a good straight beam out there?

Plenty around. I remember someone saying the corrado rear beams are stronger like the golf g60 beams?
