Title: Quarter mile wheel spin
Post by: Scott-R on 10 June 2012, 17:22
Hi, i was at crail today and i ran a 15.2@92mph but main reason was i was spinning through 1st and most of 2nd! Im only on standard 16s.. Would a set of 18s make a big difference?

Tyre brand and pressures are a good starting point.  Also decent engine mounts like THS Performance can help reduce wheel hop / movement.

I have just changed from 16"s to 18s and I get a lot more wheel spin. In the 16s you have a lot more flex in the tyres. As rhyso says brand and pressures will play a big part of it.

i would 100% have a set of anniversary 18s just cant find ones in good enuf condition for the money i want to pay and i will get some good tyres on the front! Does any one run 16s with really good tyres?

decent tyres will put the power down better than budgets. I run goodyear eagle f1s 225/40/18 with THS engine mounts and only get a small amount of wheel spin in 1st.
