Awesome mods I have to say.. what you think?

The keyless entry & start is the one thing I miss from my previous ride, I still to this day get in the GTD and just put the keys down, forgetting that it's keys operated  I'm sure in time it will pass...
But it is something that I really miss, and something that shud be std on a so called premium car...or at least have the option.

+1 Its just so much cooler, and the push start engine button is awesome, love every moment of it when I start my Type-S right now..
Think the Hatch opening is pretty awesome as well but guess that's not to everyone's liking..

You do the boot with skoda struts or something - check the mk5 section, problem is they don't work so well in the cold and if your in a car park / low garage you can do some damage.....

I did the hatch thing on mine. Took about 2 mins. If it is cold it doesnt work. My hatch full up sits lower up than if I didnt switch the brackets.

Ah yes ecstuning that's the one, was trying to remember the companies name when I first read the OP as I've seen it on there website before, I was tempted but the fact that it's useless if it's cold put me off....

I think the US 2012 MY year GTI's have Start Stop.

The keyless entry for the Golf (KESSY (http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/technology/glossary/kessy-locking-and-starting-system-electronic)) is also available in mainland Europe but not the UK for some reason although mentions it on the UK site.
It is a £435 option on the passat.

I wonder if it effects insurance ratings and doesn't meet UK regs?

All you do is switch the bracket on the hatch. If it is cold and doesnt work you just open it normally.

Guess not that bothered about the hatch opening, but just pressing a button to start up the GTI can be very therapeutic..!

No idea - Wish that was just available as standard though, even my Type-S has it as standard and my car is nothing compared to the GTI

Is it really that easy? I'm a technical dumb ass so any help is appreciated. I really like the idea of this function. I wonder if it means that the hatch is easy or harder to close too? Once mines done I'll have a look at the cab too cos the boot on that's a pain in @rse.

With regard to Jimble's link that's how I installed this to my car.It did not work well though when cold so I swapped the boot stoppers for scirocco ones as these have a spring inside them. The spring gives the hatch a push and opens every time. The parts are dirt cheap from memory and are as follows,2 of these Skoda 6y0827550c,2 of these, scirocco 1k8827761c and 2 of these,Seat Leon ball pins 1j6827439a.

Thanks, how much did that come to?

From memory I think the struts were about £8 each and the other bits a couple of quid or so.I remember at the time thinking its a cheap mod to do.The hatch is however harder to close but not an issue for me.We have 2 Mk6's and for some reason on the GTI one strut very slightly rubbed the bodywork. The other Golf was ok.I just marked it on the strut, took it off and got the file to it and put a flat edge just enough.Works a treat now.The Rocco springs,if you put them straight on they stick out to much so you loosen the grub screw and adjust them so they are pushed in,tighten the grub screw and ready to fit.The ones that are on,quarter of a turn and they are out.New ones in and all done.Copy the rest from the YouTube clip.
