Title: Fault code reader

done a search and cant find much help, can anyone recommend a diagnostic tool i can buy that will work on my 1997 16v golf

Thats the same one that I own and use on my 16v.

Is it better than the VAG COM USB diagnostic cable that you can get off eBay. Anyone used erm!!

The USB cable will do loads more but the one I have would not work and I gave up in the end. The code reader is mega easy and if all you want to do is check fault codes and re set them then its brilliant.

I also have this but there has been occasions where i have scanned a vehicle,got the code and the code isnt in the book it comes with  :undecided:,but overall its great on my 16v  :smiley:
