Oil. Oil is always a topic on my mind. I have spoken with many people and read many boards as to which is the "best" oil to use. Never get a straight answer. According to vwvortex, nearly everyone swears by 20/50 mineral. Over here, most people go with 15/40 semi-synth. A lot of people say no to pure synthetic, causes leaks on older engines, seals won't hold ect. But on the other hand there are plenty who use synthetic and don't have any problems.

Me? I currently use 15/50 mineral vw approved, but after reading some threads on here I will give 15/40 semi synth quantum a go soon, it seems many people recommend it on here.

If you want to have a good read about engine oil http://www.carbibles.com/engineoil_bible.html is interesting, but raises even more questions :D

The squeaking that you now have, is likely to be the rear axle mounting bushes tearing themselves to bits! If you've lowered your car that is... whenever lowering, it is imperative to loosen the mounting bolts, so the bushes rest in their new position, then retighten the bolts!

Think you have hit the nail on the head there so its just the case of undoing the nut let it settle then retighten up ? And yes ive have lowered it a tad or two

Correct, axle stands, or ramp stands are probably the easiest method, or even take it to a garage and get them to reset on a 4 post ramp, as long as the weight of the car is on the axle...  though bare in mind that the bushes may now be screwed, and need replacing!

Quantum synta semi synthetic 10/40, along with a genuine filter, from the dealers, and you even get change from a score. Why use anything else?
