Title: Exhaust question - mk4 gti turbo
Post by: E39 on 06 June 2012, 22:59
Hey had my 1999 mk4 Gti 1.8 Turbo 3 weeks now, 151k but sweet and a joy to drive. Been to work in it today (Southend to St Albans) via the M25 barn, it was nice and clear so had a good run in her, I noticed it sounded very throaty at 70 coming back then when I got home tonight I opened my door and think I have a slight blow from the exhaust, likely backbox. My question is did these come with S/S exhausts? I have owned Bimmers for years and never changed an exhaust or heard any blowing so dont know much about these

Cheers
Stephen

Depends if its ever been changed, standard they are mild steel like any other manufacturer, but if its blowing and needs replacing then replace with S/S as they last longer and give better flow/power
