Title: lcr gearbox

im in need of a new gearbox 02m for my leon cupra r,  does anyone no if its the same gearbox as the s3 but with a plate bolted over where the transfer box would go?? or is it the same box as in a mk4 gti 6speed?

any help would be great.

wont be the same as a s3 as the drivers side driveshaft flange comes off the side of the transfer box, any 6 speed 02m 2wd should be straight swap, there on gttdi, anni, auq engined 1.8t, and a couple of normal tdis aswel i think, can get you a list after of the compatible boxes if you want

The TDI cars will have different ratios

it started gringing when the revs dropped in 3rd and now its doing it in 2nd and 4th aswell is a known fault with the 02m box its still drivable it just gets louder and louder, on the look out for a cheap box or recon i havnt got much money to spend on it  :sad:

if it's grinding when driven it proably beyond a recon.   

recon / overhaul generaly means  new seals, bearings and syncro mesh.   and just inspect the gears   damaged gears can mean it gets uneconmoical to repair very quickly,   

damage to any gear that intergral to one of the shafts  will usally write the shaft of,  when you consider it's mate is then scrap by default  it runs up the £'s quick

from what iv read on the seat forum its sum sort of bearing. tbh i just want a 2nd hand box its just finding one thats right price for me.
