Just had a cruise back from Hunstanton with the missus, averaging between 55-60mph due to traffic, n I was gobsmacked to see that from a 58mile journey, I averaged 63.1MPG!!
Might not be as fun to drive a derv, but the money I save on fuel means extra money towards mods! :smug:

i got this is the 1.8t on a 700 mile round trip and was chuffed as fook

i can get mine up to 40 odd mpg with in 5 or 10 miles of motorway crusing  good old 1.8n/a
-
I can get 38-39 with the 1.8t driving to work at 5am with no traffic, hard task to do so and only done when close to payday after an expensive month
-
I get 30's too, my mate I car share with got Octavia 1.9tdi on way work his shows 70mpg+
-
100 mile trip today (mixed roads) at the end I got 33.6 average.
-
25 mile trip on m-way i can bet 42 mpg in my 1.8t aum
-
Im guessing that these 1.8t are been driven very slowly as there good figures?
-
would you drive one fast on a 700 mile trip
around town i get about 28-32 if im lucky
-
went to cleethorpes other day in my 1.8t which is around 60 miles away from home and got between 41 acording to my read out on the dash, round town its more like 25 and on a back road on a nice day its more like 10,15 mpg haha :)
-
I got 46mpg on my 1.8t but that was keeping the revs below 2k lol
-
I got 36mpg doing that in a Mk4 R32 once. It was like Clarkson driving that A8 to Scotland and back.
-
I get about 47 on motorways sometimes more!!driving a bit slower than the 70mph but that's the rush hour m25 in a mapped agu. If lucky enough to do 70 I get anywhere 35-43
-
swindon to london driving around 68mph i got 44.5mpg out of my AUM, thats the best ive ever had.
-
Wooton Warren (near Henley in Arden) to Hedge End on a careful run got me 50.8 mpg in my Mk3 GTI.
Over a 2,000 mile average I am still just over 40 mpg. A daily driver that also gets a 7 mile crawl to work and back (15 mph average).
The 16V boys might have more power but the little 8V is paying for itself... And my Mum's 306 D-Turbo probably wouldn't do much better.
I will stay on the light side thanks. (http://www.bandit127.com/oof_stuff/images/thumbs-up.gif)
