Title: wheel arch removal
Post by: monkeyalan on 11 June 2005, 19:55
One of my arches was badly scraped before i bought it. I was gonna replace it but might just take them all off, Highline style. If i do will i need to replace the rubbing strips on the side at the back ( 3dr) with cl ones? It looks like the gti ones would stick out about 1cm without the arches there.

If so any idea how much ?

cheers

Don't know how much, but a breakers would charge about £10 for the 'rubbing' strips

You need two long ones for the rear wings, and two short ones for the front wings (in front of the doors)

Drill the tops of the three rivets around the wings to remove, then polish out any dirt marks.

YES MATE THEY ARE CLIP ON. IF YOU GETTING THEM FROM THE BREAKERS MKE SURE THEY ARE NOT TO BENT AND THE CLIPS ARENT BROKEN, OTHERWISE USE LOADS OF MASTIC/BONDING SILICON TO ATTACH THEM - THATS WHAT I'VE DONE
