Title: Broken rear spring, nearside
Post by: wellfan on 11 June 2005, 19:43
Just noticed this evening that my off side ball joint is totally shafted and while having a good look around also noticed that my nearside rear spring is broken and looks to have been broken for some time. It has completely snapped on the third turn in the coil from the top and the two broken ends are about an inch apart from each other. Any thoughts on what other damage this may have caused, easy enough fix as I have a complete set of springs. Just a bit concerned that I may have caused problems driving around for so long with it f....d. An interesting fact, some years ago I had a Scirocco pass an MOT with a broken spring.

i can't see it doing too much other damage, was the car driving funny as surely that corner would've sat lower? i'd just change it as soon as you can.
