So then I'm after that deep wet look shine on my candy white...
What's the best products to use to achieve this?
Thanks
-
Dodo juice supernatural works well on white, not the cheapest though but goes a very long way as you only need to use a tiny amount, i got a panel pot that i had about 6-8 coats from.
-
I would say ether Dodo SN or the Dodo Hybrid , but it depends how much you want to spend, also its about preping the surface first get a good sealant underneath first !!
-
Thanks gents, will read up on the products mentioned...
-
Okay been on the Waxamomo site and theres a few different dodo supers, which ones the best for the wet look...
And Steve, I see you've had a thread about this yourself...
-
Another one to consider if you're looking for a high gloss, wet look finish;
http://www.waxamomo.co.uk/index.php?app=ecom&ns=prodshow&ref=pbwdsg
No customer reviews on Waxamomo site, but there are some on Clean Your Car website;
http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/glazes/poorboys-white-diamond/prod_551.html
I've not used this product before, but I have used the equivalent for dark coloured cars (Poorboys Black Hole) and was really impressed with the glossy, wet-look finish it gave.
As Steve30 says, preparation is the key, as the products will adhere better to the paintwork and maximise the effect of your hard work. When I used BH, it was after washing (2 BM), towel drying, claying, rinsing and 2nd towel drying, polishing. Glaze then applied and topped off with a good wax to seal in the glaze.
Can take quite a while, but the end results are worth it, but be prepared for the usual comments from the neighbours; "you can do mine next", "you cleaning that car again?", "you'll wash, the paint off", " you'll make it rain again"........................
-
White Diamond is a great product and highly recommended, but if your going with the SN Hybrid, consider Dodo Lime Prime

Chris tells no lies. I gave mine a 'quick' polish, and I mean just a quick pass with my DA using DJ LP, then topped it off with 2 coats of SN hybrib. Looks the absolute nuts. Still looking wet today, even after 300miles of driving.
Nothing like a freshly detailed ride

Cheers guys, yep once the stuff arrives and the good weather returns(here's hoping) I'm gonna be spending a good day getting it looking smart, starting with a good snow foam treatment, oh how I love that stuff!

You managed to escape the hosepipe ban in your area Mr GTD if you're still able to snowfoam your car? No such luck here; watering can for me for pre-soak and rinsing!

And also this...http://www.waxamomo.co.uk/index.php?app=ecom&ns=prodshow&ref=ddjlp
Haven't had any free time to test these 2 bad boys out as its been raining none stop and I've only just returned from Devon...will give the car a proper clean as soon as the warmer weather returns...

Oh my dayzzzzzzzzzzz. What method are you using to apply the DJ LP with? I recommend a DA...I use this combo for a quick spruce up maybe twice a year, gives such good resuslts...Even on my old crappy silver paint work

When I do get round to doing the car which I'm hoping will be this week sometime, I've just come back from a break in Devon and she's in need of some TLC...
Firstly giving it the snow foam treatment...
Then the 2 bucket method...
Then drying her with a Waxamomo drying towel(which I bought when buying the lime prime and SN)
Then applying the Lime prime with DJ finger app...(i think a couple of coats shud do?)
Then the all important SN( I'm thinking 3 or 4 coats...and again using another DJ finger app)
-
I wouldn't use the finger applicator for the lime prime. Got one of the foam pads? Or the fluffy buffing pads?
I'd use http://www.waxamomo.co.uk/index.php?app=ecom&ns=prodshow&ref=ddjbr OR http://www.waxamomo.co.uk/index.php?app=ecom&ns=prodshow&ref=mrsca
for applying your LP. Then one of those finger mitt things for the wax

Thanks for the link
Well I finally got round to doing the car with the LP and SN...and yes in the end i did use a Megs foam pad for the LM and the a finger mitt for the SN...
Well here's how I got on...
Firstly I used the Karcher to just rinse it for starters..
Then I had some fun with snow foam using AS Hyper Ultra Mousse and letting it dwell for a 20mins while'st I had a coffee...

I then used the 2 bucket method using Megs next gen
(http://i802.photobucket.com/albums/yy301/SWIFTGTS/VW%20GTD%202012/photo5.jpg)
I then dried the car with a Waxamomo big towel and other MF...
After that i applied two coats of LP and after the second coat had been applied I started on cleaning the wheels which didnt take long as they've been treated with PB so it was literally a wipe off and buff...
I then dressed the tyres in megs endurance high gloss tyre, which I must say is great...

I then applied 3 coats of the SN which in the flesh looks amazing, well worth the money...So it is the end finish...

Very nice!

Tidy mate! that snow foam looks like it gave some good dwell time?
Yeh it did mate, some think the snow foam is pointless but I find it really useful for lifting the grime from the car...I actually worked the foam in a bit after letting it dwell, this was the first time I've worked it in and think you get far better results...
In all I spent about 4.5hrs on it, sweat'd my nuts off but was well worth it....
Thanks for the good comments...

Real smart mate  The SNH is awesome stuff, gives such a great finish and the more coats the merrier I say
That tyre gel looks the business!
As for your snow foam opinion...Some people just use it as it is fun  I have yet to use it  But have seen people just giving it one coat and then blasting it off and then another and then washing the car with it still on. The more suds the better perhaps :undecided: Just food for though

Yeah I heard the same pal and me thinks I gonna give it a go next time....I must say tho if you haven't tried snow foam then you really shud, even if it's just for the fun....
And if you already own a jet washer then your half way there....
I paid...
£46 for the Karcher(reconditioned at that price) but comes with a 12mnth warranty and tbh you wudnt of been able to tell it was recon'd if I didn't tell you lol...it looks and performs like new.
£38 for the snow foam lance(with karcher adapter incl)
and £25 plus P&P for the AS Ultra foam 5ltrs...found out after buying I cud of got 25ltrs for £46...D'oh! anyway it's not as if you use a lot of it at a time anyways...
Didn't need a hose as my karcher is MAGIC! lol...
Na not really, I don't have the pleasure of owning a driveway so I take it to the mrs's sister everytime the car needs a bath, and yes of course in the deal that I use there drive I have to clean there Rav and my mrs's Aygo...not everytime tho thankfully, once in a while...
I wud be a total nightmare if I did have a drive tho as I wud be washing the motor none stop, so it's just as well....

snow foam is good stuff IMO. if your car isn't really dirty don't bother but if its filthy its well worth doing and if you just polished/waxed it its worth doing too to get rid off all the dust. snow foam will help remove all hose annoying little specks of fallout. i got valet pro ph neutral and its good stuff.
if you want to be really anal get a karcher chassis cleaner too!! had hours of fun with mine:laugh:
my car too is candy white and i use meguiars soft wash or next gen car wash first then polish with autoglym SRP, (recently got poor boys white diamond glaze but yet to try it - more or less the same as SRP i think), and then seal it with meguairs tech wax then add a few coats of poor boys natty's white paste (6 coats and counting :roll eyes:)
the nattys paste is class. my car looks ridiculous with a few coats of that stuff. to touch its like glass and when i clean it all the sh!t just slides off.
i would totally recommend that for your candy white car.
i have nattys blue for our black ford focus though and its a fricking nightmare to buff off so dunno if its a duff tub but the white it so easy on and off???!!!

i got mine from tooled up.com but i saw them on the shelf in b&q the other day
http://www.tooled-up.com/ManProduct.asp?PID=192475
also get this as you only get 1x treatment included. you use karcher wash & wax, then blast it off with the rotary head then apply the chassis protection wax.
http://www.tooled-up.com/Product.asp?PID=192495
for the pre wash i use either car shampoo or karcher wash & wax concentrated stuff. i got it cheap on ebay
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Karcher-Wash-Wax-500ml-Conc-5L-for-Pressure-Washers-/270998082532?pt=UK_Home_Garden_PowerTools_SM&hash=item3f18be93e4
i also got a karcher window cleaner while i was on and thats great also! will keep the mrs busy.

I strongly recommend Werkstatt products for white cars.
