Title: Insurance for 17 year old male driver ridiculas.
Post by: lukeC on 03 June 2012, 21:43
Hello ladies and gentle men. I have a golf mk4 1.4 16v, the log book states its a Golf, Saloon. But it is obviously not a saloon. I enter my reg in comparison sites etc, it isn't found and i have to take the nearest thing to it, which is a Golf mk4 1.4 saloon on there choices. the insurance quotes i am getting are £1400 for provisonal. and For when i have passed it is £3750. Can any one shed me some light on this? I got a quote for £1500 with black box, but then when i gave the company my reg it came back up to £4500.... I dont see what the problem is? I have a years no claims from motorcyle cover, completely standard car    thats all the insurance company needs to know.

Have you had the car HPI checked? IF the logbook appears incorrect and your car wont come up on insurance sites it sounds a bit dodgy.

HPI doesnt always tell you everything but mite shed some light.

Hi, yeah Had the car HPID and it states exactly the same as the log book, every thing matches, all chasis numbers, engine numbers, all the millage is correct to the report and and matches from the history and m.o.t certificates. strange for some reason.... I don't see how it is a saloon, when golf never made a saloon... specially the mk4 :S some insurance companys have found it on there records, but i thought it was An E version. but its not. Its a golf 1.4 16v saloon apparantly, so i do not know... Can any one help me out on this one?

Does it say VW Golf S rather than E? My golf 1.4 16 valve is a Golf S on my logbook.

Very strange that if everything works out on the logbook and engine and chassis numbers are correct. Next thing is to speak to the dvla for me just to make sure they are happy and nothing can invalidate your insurance once you get it.

Why do people pay that for insurance and go for cars like that? You want a 1.0 Corsa or something like that.
