Whats caused that?

Looking at it again it looks similar to when you hit a plastic bumper and you get that stress effect in the paint.
-
Dealer visit there mate
-
glad my 23 year old golf doesnt have paint issues
-
Mate I would not be happy about that! I'd get an independent report done and the give VW the chance to rectify it.
-
Sound like the UK could could benifit from the USAs Lemon Law as cars like yours have had so many issues its unbelivable :undecided:
I *think* mines ok but to be fair I've never got down on my hands and knees to look.

That doesn't look right, nor would I accept from VW that it is normal or acceptable. Time to test the VW paintwork warranty.........................
Three-Year Paint warranty
All Volkswagen passenger cars are provided with a warranty for a period of 3 years from the date of first registration against any manufacturing defects with the paintwork.
The only preconditions are:
The defect must be reported to a member of the Volkswagen Authorised Network as soon as it is discovered. This must of course be within the warranty period.
The defect must not be due to external influences such as accident damage, climatic, thermal, chemical or industrial pollution, insufficient care or maintenance. This will be determined by the member of the Volkswagen Authorised Network at the time of inspection.

Can you feel it?
-
No cannot feel it but it got two coats of wax last week which I polished off in the garage. I noticed this when I first pulled the car out the garage since then. I was actually looking to polish off the bits I missed when in the garage. (why I was that low doc) I actually spotted it when standing up just easier to show it face on.

Weird, looks like a warranty claim.....

is it just those panels or all over the car?
it looks like the clear base coat has reacted somehow with the clear coat like maybe it was to hot when painted or something?
if you can't feel it and if its the bad coat which is at fault then i doubt you could polish it out.
i would take it back to the dealership but at best they will want to repaint the dodgey panels which i know you wouldn't want
time for a part ex i reckon....
-
Just that panel and only the bottom half.
-
Wonder I it's Painted? I know alot of cars need minor paint done when new due to being damaged in transit.
-
I need to go see about the oil leak anyway so may ask their opinion.
I may get it pro detailed and see what can be done. There's a few marks I want doing.
-
I'd check it out with a paint thickness guage and see if it's any different to other panels.
It looks very odd for a new car

Try Pulman Durham. When I went in with peelin paint from the back bumper they said they would paint it no questions asked. Some dealers are funny with paint issues but they seemed pretty good.
-
That is who I was thinking of going to see but next week at the earliest as on sorting out my workshop lockup this week.
I'm told they have a paint thickness gauge but I would have to see the bloke during the week.
-
Good luck!

This is terrible, i dont know what is going on with vag paint atm, i have an S3 sportback in ibis white and eventually ngot audi to respray the bumpers as they were cream compared to the car, ( i know about metal and plastic etc, but it is still just as bad as when they started fortunately no worse which is kind of what i expected. I dont understand why they cant get things like this right afterall this is what they do and claim to be the best at it!!
Like i said to audi customer service all i want is a 35k car with the same coloured bumpers, obviously that is too much to ask!!
Let us know how you get on.
Just a thought that the paint i had on my leon cupra in white was spot on!!!
Come on vag sort it out.
-
Funny enough so is my Leons as is the ibiza(well it was until a vw dealer washed it with what looked like a scowering pad!) A mate wants to detail the two SEATs but I'm worried that will really show the golf up..
